Nathan Mueller of One of Won Customs is the mad scientist behind this fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro SS with a 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel swap. The work with his Camaro affirms the mantra of “built not bought,” but does so in such a way that seems to uphold quality of the highest standard.
The most impressive aspect of swapping in a massive Duramax engine, though, is that the Camaro maintains a factory look, aside from the front-mounted intercooler. Still, one would likely have no idea that a Duramax was sitting under the hood. Until the black smoke spews out of the tailpipes, of course.
On top of that, all of the electronics function as they should, including cruise control and the use of automatic paddle shifters. This was something Mueller set out to do, as his previous swap, the aforementioned Cummins Charger, veered from the OEM look. Unlike the Charger, the Camaro didn’t receive a third pedal with the swap, and instead uses a Hydra-Matic 6L90.
We would be interested to see other specs, like how much power this thing can put to the ground, or what the 0-60 time is. Though with all that torque, we’re sure the coal-rollin’ Duramax Camaro is plenty of fun.
